A Pomodoro timer that runs on the task

A Pomodoro is 25 minutes of focused work and a 5-minute break; a timebox is one block you give a task and stop at. Press play on a task and tidystation runs its estimate either way, gives the screen to that task, and logs the minutes back to it.

How focus mode works

How are the Pomodoros sized?

From the task’s estimate. A 1h50 estimate runs as 4 cycles of 25/5 and a 10-minute wrap-up, and sessions move on by themselves with a chime. Change the lengths in Settings: work sessions from 15 to 60 minutes, breaks from 3 to 15.

What does focus mode show?

The task, its steps and the time left, on a dark screen with nothing else on it. Add 5 or 15 minutes, pause, or finish the task with Enter. Minimize it and the timer keeps running in a corner.

What if a thought interrupts me?

Type it into the capture line at the bottom. It becomes a task that waits in Triage, and the block keeps running.

Where do the minutes go?

To the task. Report adds them up by category for a day, week, month or year, so you can see whether marketing or one course took the week.

Questions

Can I run a timer without a task?

Yes, from the command palette: a 15, 25 or 50-minute Pomodoro, or a custom timebox. Those minutes stay out of Report.

Is there a phone app?

tidystation runs in the browser on a laptop or desktop. There is no phone app.
